Id, ego and super-egoare the three parts of the psychicapparatus defined in SigmundFreud's structuralmodel of the psyche;they are the three theoretical constructs in terms of whose activityand interaction mental life is described. According to this model ofthe psyche, the id (es) the set of uncoordinated instinctual trends; the ego (ich)is the organized, realistic part; and the super-ego (ueberich) plays the critical and moralizing role.
